BOOKS & INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The Book Isn't the Starting Point. It's Where the Thinking Ends Up.

Most people think a book is something you decide to write. In practice, a strong book is usually the last step in a longer process  identifying what you know, structuring it, and then giving it a form other people can read, teach from, and remember.

THE SEQUENCE

The Book Is a Container. The Work Happens Before It.

A book is not just about organizing information clearly. Clarity is expected, but it is not enough. To create a lasting impact, your work must be intellectually distinctive. It requires a strong core thesis that belongs entirely to you a unique perspective drawn from your specific experience that introduces a new way of thinking, not just a well-organized summary of what is already known. The book is simply the container for that thesis.

By the time a book is written, the hardest work  figuring out what’s actually worth saying is already done.

PUBLISHED WORK

Mick's Own Body of Published Work

Beyond more than 100 academic and professional publications, Mick is the author of two books  On Track Ian Hunter and Burning America  with a third currently in progress. Having gone through the process of turning raw material into a finished, published work himself, he brings that same discipline to identifying and structuring what belongs in yours.

YOUR BOOK

Not Every Framework Needs to Become a Book But Some Do

Part of what Phase One determines is whether a book is actually the right asset for what you know, or whether a different format a framework, an advisory offering, a speaking platform  makes more sense first.

When a book is the right move, it’s built on the Authority Blueprint you already have: a defined thesis, a named framework, and a clear sense of who the book is for and what it needs to do for your platform.

THE NEXT STEP

Before You Write the Book, Find Out What It Should Say

Phase One identifies whether a book is the right next asset  and if it is, what it should actually be about.
